Human ties and their complexity are the basis of my works. Whether they are imposed relationships, such as the family you were born into, or relationships you choose for yourself. The ties with the people around us defines us, builds us and sometimes are a burden.
I am intrigued to understand where in the relationship the one begins and the other ends? where is the limit of emotion? where the limit of the body? The lines are very blurry.
The detachment of the characters in my paintings, which sometimes exist in a vacuum and are detached from a familiar and material environment, emphasizes the randomness and transience of human existence
that preoccupies me greatly.
The impossible gap between painting and emotion is the force that drives my work.
Sometimes I wish to narrow the gap and sometimes I wish to deepen the dissonance.
